# history

1959

#01 Vimas is born

Opened in Samarate by Carlo Vizzolini, what within a few years would become the VIMAS company.
From repairing oxyacetylene welding equipment to purchasing the first machine tool… our journey begins.

1964

#02 The arrival of Ernesto Macchi

Collaboration with Ernesto Macchi begins. Within a few years the business is moved to a new facility in Samarate. The production of mechanical parts starts, along with the gradual addition of machine tools and some grinders to carry out the entire production process internally.

1975 – 1976

#03 A new headquarters

In 1975, construction began on a new plant in Cardano al Campo, in the area that is still home to the company today. In 1976, operations move into the new building, which covers an area of about 800 sqm.

1981 – 1984

#04 Production expansion

VIMAS’s first CNC lathe is purchased and put into operation, followed by the development of the first vertical machining centre.

1991

#05 Custom spindle groups

Production begins on complete cartridge spindle groups based on drawings, and the design of cartridge spindle groups starts in order to offer customers a comprehensive service.

1993

#06 The new machining centres

With the first grinder and the multi-pallet horizontal machining centre, collaboration with the machine-tool sector expands: production of high-precision mechanical parts and components for machine-tool spindles.

1995 – 1999

#07 The electrospindlers

After the first equipment for grinding-wheel profiling using a diamond roll, the first electrospindle is built, marking the start of production with a permanent-magnet synchronous motor for milling.

2000

#08 Joining UCIMU

VIMAS S.r.l. becomes a member of UCIMU, the association of Italian manufacturers of robots, machine tools, automation systems and related auxiliary products (CNCs, tools, components, accessories).

2024

#09 The growth of excellence

Following continuous production expansion, VIMAS S.r.l. now operates with 26 employees in a covered area of over 3,000 sqm. To ensure continued growth, new investments are planned in high-technology and high-efficiency machinery. In 2024, as further recognition of the excellence of its products, Marco Macchi is appointed Board Member of UCIMU.
